Legacy PLC to Modern Infrastructure Bridge
Digitalization
Practical integration concept for connecting older automation systems to modern data infrastructure without replacing the entire machine.
What was implemented
- Established PUT and GET communication between S7 300 and S7 1200 controllers to transfer machine data
- Sent process values through OPC UA to SQL Server for centralized storage and further processing
- Used the collected data actively in Power BI for evaluation, transparency, and analysis
- Enabled a practical retrofit concept where key parameters can be adjusted centrally from a PC
